Number 1, October, 1976 The San Jose CC paid tribute to two longtime members: Bert Mueller (member since 1942) and Janis Kalnins (member since the early 1950s.) Fred Muollo won the Starbird #1 tournament with a score of 4.0.

Number 3, December, 1976 Gabriel Sanchez becomes an expert after winning the LERA Thanksgiving "A" division. NM Boris Siff will teach a class starting December 10th.

Number 4, January, 1977 GM Leonid Shamkovich gave a simultaneous exhibition on December 3, 1976. He scored 14 wins, 2 losses to Rafael Yahalon and Bill Parker, and 2 draws to Jim Iwashita and Bruce Matzner.
