(A chess variant called Neo-chess, invented by Hugo Legler, changed the powers of two pieces: the queen Knight or Archbishop could move like a Knight and Bishop, the queen Rook or Chancellor could move like a Rook and Knight. The M. I. had the two new piece made; the Archbishop looked like high knight and the Chancellor looked like a horse-head mounted on a rook. A quadrangular tournament was held and Elmer Gruer was 1st and Adolph Fink 2nd.)
