Ryder, instructor in Sanskrit in the university. Ryder has agreed to combat, singly and alone, the entire force of the college chess club. The learned professor is a player of repute, having played for several years on the Harvard chess team, which he afterward coached. He is quite confident of his ability to defeat the university men and has invited the entire club to be present at the tournament. - San Francisco Examiner.
