Vol. 1, No. 2, July 1970 Bernard Lainson won the Group 1 section of the Old Monterey Bicentennial 1970 Chess Congress with a 3-0 score.

Vol. 1, No. 3, August 1970 Mike Ewell has won the Rapid-transit tournaments for 4 months in a row.

Vol. 1, No. 4, September 1970 Mike Ewell has won the Rapid-transit tournament again.

Vol. 1, No. 5, October 1970 Charles Pardini won the Flight of the Bumbler B Chess Tournament with a 5-0 score.

Vol. 1, No. 6, November 1970 Bernie Lainson won the Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot tournament (30/30). First prize was a turkey! Bernie Lainson also won the Monterey Peninsula CC Championship with a score of 7 points.

Vol. 1, No. 7, December 1970 NM Alex Suhobeck won the Monterey County Chess Championship.

Vol. 2, No. 1, January 1971 GM Walter Browne gave a 22 board simul and scored 20 wins and 2 draws against Dan Maxwell and George Oakes.

Vol. 2, No. 2, February 1971 Mike Ewell won the Cherry-Tree Open, on tiebreak, with a score of 4-1.

Vol. 2, No. 2, March 1971 Bernie Lainson won the Monterey Peninsula CC 1971 Winter Rating Tournament with a 4.5-.5 score.

Vol. 2, No. 3, April 1971 Mitchell Bedford won the Easter 30-30 Crunch Tournament, on tiebreak, with a score of 4-0.
